BH: Tell me a little bit about yourself.Â
Maryanne: My name is Maryanne Mwaliko. Most people in Eldoret know me as Doreen, which is my other name. I am a Taita.
I am not an Eldoret model but I started my modeling journey in Eldoret 7 years ago. I was so young then. Modeling was a childhood dream that I planned to achieve and I wasn’t going to let anything to get in the way of that. Since then, I have done numerous fashion shows, beauty pageants, ushering jobs, adverts, charity projects, exhibitions, including judging beauty contests and choreographing models. I have numerous pageant titles including Miss Tourism Rift valley 2009, Miss Kericho 2011, Miss Corporate Kenya 2014 Nairobi County 1st runners up, Miss Attitude East Africa 2016 1st runners up. I currently reside in Nairobi, I am a microbiologist by profession.Â
I own a charity project called GreatLife Empowerment Foundation (GlefKenya) founded in 2011;- that provides donations, posts job vacancies on its social media pages, and planning to hold its own mentorship programs, focusing on girls and women empowerment.
I am also the brand ambassador for SarahandJoy, a US based brand that specializes in women clothing and interior design.
Currently I am one of the contestants of Miss Orient Universe 2016, an international beauty pageant that advocates and plans seminars and programs for reorientation of girl-child against social vices such as drug abuse, prostitution, cultism, indecent dressing, underage sex, alcoholism, lesbianism among others. Beauty queens all over Africa are set to arrive in Kenya in August to participate in this great event  which is slated for 2nd September in Mombasa City organized by Miss Orient Universe Worldwide.
