Outdoor clubs also known as open air clubs are becoming a revelers preference going by the number of new establishments opening doors everyday in Eldoret. This may be to some extent attributed to Covid-19 which has made individuals in this lucrative industry rethink their strategy when it comes to construction of entertainment joints.
Initially, clubbing was an activity of the night and many patrons preferred enclosed spaces due to the elements. However, since Covid-19 hit, certain measures have to be put in place so as to accommodate Ministry of Health guidelines. For one, social distancing has become very important and thus the need for more space we also have a country wide curfew which means partygoers spend more day time than night time at these joints, it only makes more sense to set up a place that utilizes natural light and natural aircon.
The Midnight Tavern
Recently TMT club did a nice extension to the previous set up, this new outdoor space is a crowd favorite as it is more spacious and even has more room for parking. This club also enjoys a favorable location along Kisumu road adjacent to Lexo filling station.
Lobo Village
Lobo Village is another establishment that opened up during these difficult times but has become popular due to the outdoorsy set up. Some of the activities that can be enjoyed at Lobo are Archery, Boat riding , Horse riding etc. The space is also conducive for all forms of celebration big or small. You will however need to drive a little further out of town to get to the village as it is located off Kisumu road in an estate called Kapsaret
Tamasha
Tamasha, located along Kisumu road opposite Eldoret Polytechnic is another Covid-19 baby, this restaurant has also adopted a minimalistic outdoor set up that is working really well. They have a huge parking lot with a car wash area that is a favorite to many. They also have space that can be used for birthday parties. Baby showers and any other small celebration.
Sultan Bar & Grill
This past weekend saw Sultan Bar & Grill located at Bakri Petrol station, Pipeline along Eldoret Busia Highway go off on its maiden voyage which seems to have been a success going by the pictures circulating online. This outdoor club is a great addition to the clubbing scene of the west region of Eldoret (Road block, Mailli Nne, Huruma, Pipeline etc) as the others mentioned are along Kisumu road.
Once again, necessity has become mother invention as can be witnessed from the new club set up, Covid-19 may have come with a bag of challenges but Kenyans are taking it in stride and rising above.
