Eldoret filmmakers are set to take Kenya film industry by storm after the much-awaited drama film Kumbe debuted on Friday

Friday 1st September 2017, was a historic night for Eldoret creatives and local content lovers as 64 Films first commercial movie, filmed on location in Eldoret, was screened to the public at the luxurious 64 Resort & Sporting Club.
Kumbe, is a dramatic film that highlights issues such as drugs, prostitution, money, ma-sponsor, politics, sex, fashion & lifestyle that a lot of millennials are gripped with everyday. The official synopsis reads:
Young Njonjo finds himself alone in the streets after his poor mother commits suicide.He has to hustle himself out of the dangerous street life that leaves one of this best friend murdered. Things get complicated after Mariah, a weathly and ruthless man’s daughter falls in love with him.
Produced by 64 Films, this drama-fiction movie is set in the modern-day Eldoret featuring locations such as Inner Harbour, Sirikwa Hotel, Langas and scenes from Nakuru and Kitale. The lead role, Njonjo, is played by Marine Gleeson alongside Maryanne Kimani ( Njonjo’s mom who commits suicide) and cameos from Sam (fisi), Mc Nick (Sponsor) and Natasha Gnittel (Mariah’s mother).
While this is 64 films first movie to premiere in the Kenya film scene, from story to screen, the movie is nothing short of professional production, great acting and delivery. Kumbe sets the bar high for other filmmakers in the country.
