Preparations for Kitenge Fest, the biggest fashion and entertainment event in Eldoret, have been underway. First, posters and a link asking you, the people of Eldoret, to nominate your favorite personalities in 15 categories made rounds.
Next, a call for vendors, designers, and models went out.

I particularly like the fact that there are a lot of new faces. There is also a mixture of skin tones, height, and body sizes. The inclusivity is something we have to appreciate. Model Training
The models attend training sessions at Rupa’s Fitness Center every Sunday afternoon, steered by seasoned model Sharon Kosgey who always looks effortlessly stunning wherever you spot her. Here, they learn how to strut on the runway like the highest paid models do. They are also learning dance routines. Choreographers included Nedo and Ecko from the Gospel Warriors crew. Looks like we will be in for a treat come the 4th edition of Kitenge Fashion Fest.
How To Vote For Contesting Nominees
2 weeks after you, the people of Eldoret, were asked to nominate your favorite personalities for the award ceremony, the list of those who made the cut came out based on 2700 submissions. Voting commenced on the 25th of February and will be closed on the 9th of April. Each nominee was given a special code. To vote, you send your favorite nominee’s code to 40858. Kitenge Fashion Fest Media Launch And Official Sponsors
2021’s Kitenge Fest will be bigger and better than all that came before it if its media launch is anything to go by.
I hope you already have your tickets because it is going to be spectacular. Trust me, you don’t want to miss it. The media launch which took place at the fancy Eka Hotel was aired on NTV and K24. Fashion For A Cause
The theme of this year’s Kitenge Fashion Fest is Fashion For Environmental Conservation. Apart from helping local designers showcase their products and models shine in their element, Kitenge Fest organizers will also see to it that 5000 trees are planted all over the county. The first leg of tree planting kicked off yesterday at St Lukes and New Light School Ziwa. 300 trees were planted, 4700 to go. If you would like to be a part of this environmental conservation effort, you can contribute a seedling to the cause by sending your contribution to paybill number 400222, business number 1858317 . Seedlings cost ksh 50 and Ksh 100.
