If you ask me, one of the most beautiful things about living in the 21st century is the fact that you can get food without necessarily having to go out or prepare it courtesy of the slew of food delivery apps available. Ordering food online started in 1994 with a Pizza Hut order and continues to grow more popular by the day. If you are working late, busy, trying to woo a girl or just lazy like me, and would like to order food to your door in Eldoret, you currently have 2 options; Jumia Food and Glovo. Question is, which is the better app?
Comparing Eldoret’s Food Delivery Apps

In my comparison, I decided to look at the restaurant options available, the radius of delivery, and the cost of delivery between Jumia Food and Glovo.
Restaurant Options
Jumia Food:

Jumia lets you choose between 14 restaurants: Java, KFC, Keno Coffee House, Zaika, The Well Irish Pub, Tiryo Grill Prestige, Pizza Mojo, Toby’s Tavern, Big Square, Hatens Kitchen, Island Bakers, Pizza Bistro, TMT, and Chicken Run. The menus are extensive and categorized into breakfast, starters, main course, etc.
Glovo:

Glovo wins in this particular category because it has way more restaurant options. 34 to be specific. These are; Java, KFC, Keno Coffee House, Zaika, The Well Irish Pub, Tiryo Grill Prestige, Pizza Mojo, Toby’s Tavern, Big Square, Hatens Kitchen, Island Bakers, Pizza Bistro, TMT, The Swahili Joint, Joe’s Wings & Grill, Bakers Point, Springston Restaurant,
Bistro Burgers, Veg Curries, Will’s Pub & Restaurant, Aya Inn, Wings 23, Mursik Dairy Kiosk, Maggies, Zion Restaurant, Jisty Foods, Silver Star Travellers Hotel, Champions Hotel & Butchery, Hotel Baron, Dosana Cafe, Hotel Lexus, Jamii Restaurant, Eldoret West Police Canteen, and Chicken Run. The menus are, however, not as detailed as those on Jumia Food for similar restaurants.
Delivery Radius
Of the two food delivery apps, Glovo covers a wider distance. Jumia Food delivery is limited to Eldoret CBD, Kapsoya, Annex, Pioneer, and Elgon View. Glovo comes to wherever you are.
Delivery Cost For The 2 Food Delivery Apps
I ordered some of the most ordered food from popular restaurants on both apps. Entered Town Hall as my location. Here is how their prices differ.
Pizza From Keno Coffee House

Jumia Food: Ksh 1150

Glovo: Ksh 725

Streetwise 2 From KFC

Jumia: Ksh 399

Glovo: Ksh 350

Tandoor Fish Tikka From Zaika

Jumia Food: Ksh 875

Glovo: Ksh 775

My Conclusion After Reviewing The Two Food Delivery Apps
The signup process for both apps is fairly simple. All you have to fill in is your name, email, number, and address. Discounts and promotions are also highlighted on both. Glovo is, however, cheaper and more ideal if you live far from town. Its superiority is further validated by the fact that you can order and send products like parcels and letters through their courier service. Not to mention the app features supermarkets & beauty, baby, health, and liquor stores.
