What beats spending a cold Friday afternoon with great company enjoying delectable food at a new restaurant in Eldoret CBD? That was the situation when team Eldoret Leo and Kaari’s Kitchen hooked up for a menu tasting session at Delicious Delight Restaurant.
We had an exciting afternoon at the restaurant, sampling some of their main dishes, savoring the restaurant ambiance and interacting with the chef. If you follow our Instagram, we did a little teaser showcasing the dishes we were served.
I would like to take you through the food we had and our overall experience hoping that you will make a point to visit the restaurant and experience everything for yourself.
Restaurant Location and Ambiance
Delicious Delight Restaurant is located in Oloo Street, Sugarland Plaza, Ground floor, where Uchumi Supermarket was situated.
Although the whole ground floor is currently undergoing partitioning, the murk of unfinished stalls around does not take away the beauty and warmth that ushers you into the restaurant.
The first thing you’ll notice once you step into the restaurant is the striking pink and beige painting on the wall that blends perfectly with the dark brown mahogany seats and golden tone overhead lights that set the mood just right for an early breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Service
Delicious Delight is one of those restaurants where you genuinely feel comfortable and at home. Right at the entrance, there is always a gentleman to welcome you and guide you to your seat.
The restaurant offers a variety of international cuisines including African dishes, Indian, Chinese and Italian. After going through the menu, we were undecided on what to order and so the Chef came over to walk us through the menu and offer suggestions. Once we made our order, the chef took to the kitchen to prepare the dishes.
An important note is that everything from the Menu is made to order. You are therefore guaranteed fresh food. Also, depending on what you ordered, you should give it a couple of minutes for your order to be ready. The good thing is that the restaurant has an open plan kitchen, so you can always catch a glimpse of your food being prepared.
Food
Here is the part you’ve been waiting for 🙂
The objective was to try out a variety of food across the menu. Our order consisted of Beef Mushroom, Schezwan Chicken and Fish Sizzling which was accompanied by Roast Potatoes, Mixed Vegetables, Chapatis, Mixed Vegetable Rice, Egg Rice and Sweet and Sour Rice.
Sampling The Food
The Beef Mushroom was absolutely divine when spooned over Mixed Vegetable Rice. The beef was fork tender and the mushroom sauce creamy giving an extra dose of yum to your palate. This is a nice combination to try out whenever you visit the restaurant.
Schezwan Chicken is one of the Chinese cuisines served at Delicious Delight Restaurant, Eldoret. It tastes mildly spicy but not as much as it looks in the picture below. The tender chicken is served in a dark colored stew from Schezwan sauce, soya sauce, sugar and chili sauce.
You can combine Schezwan Chicken with Egg Rice, Sweet and Sour Rice or Mixed Vegetable Rice and Chapatis.
Now to everyone’s favorite, Fish Sizzling!
As the name suggests, the fish was served on a very hot pan such that you could hear the juices sizzle through the meat to produce a thick aromatic smoke.
If you want to impress your date, this is what to go for!
The Fish Sizzling was as delicious as it looked and the flavor was just right. This is a must try dish. You can have it served with cashew nut rice and a glass of fresh cocktail juice of your choice.
Finally, we had roast potatoes and Cauliflower vegetable dish which was equally delightful. The Cauliflower vegetable dish particularly goes well with Chapatis and is a great combination to have for lunch. The potatoes were roasted to perfection with a crispy coating and is generously served.
Price
A meal for one will averagely cost you between Ksh 350 – Ksh 500 bob which is quite fair when you consider the quality standards of the meals served. For an entire course like the one we had, it will set you back Ksh 2,500 and is enough food to feed 5 adults.
Final Thoughts
When we were invited for the Menu Tasting at Delicious Delight Restaurant, we had no idea what to expect. But, at the end of the afternoon, we were all blown away by their top quality service and the tantalizing dishes which we had the pleasure of sampling.
The restaurant is perfect for a meet up with friends, after work dinner with colleges and a well-packed breakfast any day.
