True Lovers Celebrate Valentine’s Day Everyday

Valentine’s Day should never be the time where all dreams and aspirations in one’s life are suspended just for the sake of having fleeting pleasures.

Valentine’s day is barely a week away and the “lobbying” that is going on behind the scenes between the lovebirds, ‘crushers,’ couples just to mention a few are intriguing. Expensive gifts and outings in high-end joints feature prominently on the subject matter.

Some are disappointed because of shallow pockets resulted from post-January effects that have left a massive dent in their pockets, hence, cannot afford to ‘spoil’ their loved ones or otherwise, properly celebrate valentines day. For a majority of couples, Valentine’s day marks the single day in the calendar that gifts are mandatory thus necessary to evade the imminent fallout as envy from friends bites hard.

When you want the perfect Valentine’s day but your bank account won’t let you

The culture of flamboyance and blatant display of affection through new merchandise and gifts has been entrenched in the society such that those who treat the valentine’s day as inconsequential become a laughing stock and suffer public humiliation for not celebrating the “lover’s day.”

Valentine’s day is just a day like any other. The day should never be a trap to just fall for anything in the guise of love. Valentine’s day has just been over-shadowed by immoral behaviors, gulping many glasses of wine and sex orgies in the form of house parties. It’s no longer the time of the year where couples used to take stock of what they have achieved in their marriage or relationship goals.

I am not critiquing, but honestly, true lovers celebrate valentines day each day in their lives. They regularly buy gifts, go out together without any external reminder like February 14th each year. The day should just remind all that love is special and sacred and should be celebrated with modesty. People in marriages and relationships should use such rare opportunities to reaffirm their stake in their unions.

When the lovers wholeheartedly believe in tenets of true love, then, they will not be swept away with valentines day craze. If you love someone, then you don’t need anyone to remind you to buy gifts for them or go out with them just to feel special and appreciated. That should be standard practice if indeed their interests come fore in your life.

For everyone sake, we deserve better; both in treatment from those people we think they love us and feel it as well. So the cosmetic show of affection is much welcomed but should deeply reside in the heart to avoid hurting them and live up to the expectations. Its grossly negates the spirit of true love when the very people we promise them the best always ends up being people on the receiving end of abuses and heartbreaks.

Valentine’s day should not epitomize the rot in our society where we justify our unruly behaviors with so-called lovers day. It should not and never be the time where all dreams and aspirations in one’s life are suspended just for the sake of having fleeting pleasures. Let our conscience standout in every moment regardless of the “spur of the moments.”
