Eldoret film makers are gradually becoming part of Kenya’s ever evolving and flourishing film industry. Tomorrow, on the 28th of December, we witness yet another masterpiece by Papa Joe; the movie Alone.
All About Alone
ALONE is a movie about shattered hopes, dashed expectations & betrayal. It follows the life of Memo, a young girl going back home after a long time in the city. She is excited about reuniting with her family. But her excitement turns to a nightmare when her family leaves her alone in the house. Her only companion is the ruthless Kurgat, the shamba boy who is still a champion for archaic traditions.
His toxic masculinity jeorpadizes Memo’s survival and she is left with very little choice. She finds a friend in Cheboi, a boda rider who rescues her. But it turns out he might not be who he claims to be. The odds are stuck against her. Question is, can her survival skills take her from the jaws of destruction or will her blind trust plunge her from the pan into the fire?

The Man Behind The Movie
ALONE is produced by one legendary Papa Joe. He was inspired by two major things. First, the realization that some issues within our evolving cultures need to be tackled head on. And two, the need to develop a conversation around “sacred” issues.
He is a scriptwriter, director & producer whose sole aim is to build the film industry in Eldoret. Starting from scratch, he has developed a consistent audience for local production through training, auditioning, production and screening of locally produced films. All of which he does through a mentorship program dubbed The Dream makers.
His Ambitions
Through this program, he hopes to bring together emerging filmmakers from the grassroots. And to ensure their stories are told by them. For them. He also seeks to identify and build the capacity of upcoming filmmakers. As well as provide a platform where they can exercise their talents & achieve their dreams.
If you are thinking of buying tickets, I can tell you this. You are in for a treat. Apart from an exceptional script, expect high voltage dramatic action, suspense, romance and fireworks. Not to forget a Red Carpet photoshoot. It is a movie premiere of caliber after all. One that will be worth both your time and money.
