An Overview of Eldoret Town

The Airport

The Eldoret International Airport is one of two ways of getting into the City of Champions. It’s built on a 762 Hectares piece of land. It has 2 runways that stretch 3,500 meters long, taxiways, a terminal building with international arrival/departure and domestic arrival/departure. The airport has the capacity to land 1 Boeing 767, 3 medium airbus 300 and 4 light planes.

Eldoret International Airport is also the only known International airport with a man-made forest within its grounds. The Airport made history recently when it hosted Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta on the same day.

Infrastructure

Eldoret town is currently experiencing a rapid growth in its economy with new businesses being set up in all parts of the city. With this expansion, the demand for quality office spaces is at an all-time high, and this has led to the various construction of high-rise buildings. According to Robert Ngisirey – Uasin Gishu Country Executive for Housing and Land, there are at least 12 commercial buildings under construction within Eldoret CBD all of which are above 14 storeys. While it is sure that Eldoret is getting a new look, we cannot forget the iconic buildings that have made Eldoret the beautiful town it is today. Check them out…
